Half Sovereigns were minted in most of the 19th and 20th Century Monarchs Reigns.
These were usually more popular with a wider class of people since they were more affordable than full sovereigns.
Half Sovereigns are more likely to have been in wider circulation since they were a more acceptable unit of currency – a sovereign would have ben rarer and more used by collectors and for incestment purposes.
Accordingly, half-sovereigns in uncirculated condition are much rarer than many full sovereigns.
Australian and Canadian Royal Mints also minted half sovereigns.
